Just at the point where you think the band have totally switched direction, they pull out some old school aces from up their sleeves with “I am the One” and “The Flood”, before once again firmly setting foot in the consistent new direction with final tracks “Where the End Begins” and “Confutatis”.
If there is a second single release for this album I wholeheartedly want it to be “11th Hour” as the refreshed focus of the band would be heard. The new members really come to the fore on “Carry On” and “The Time Has Come”, really showing Mushroomhead in a new light. “What a Shame” and “Pulse” almost follows in a similar pattern – this trio of songs collectively work incredibly well. Macabre and melodic, “The Heresy” is hands down my favourite track on the album and I particularly enjoyed the change of pace, and the keyboards and samples from Stitch. The lead single “Seen it All” is not only catchy as hell but has some great galloping drums to boot. We then receive the first introduction to new members (vocalists Mr Rauckhorst and Ms Jackie) on “Madness Within” which not only gives off early Godhead vibes but sounds like a lullaby heard on Elm St. Opening with the introductory track “A Requiem For Tomorrow”, things begin with an ominous choral piece and are soon combined with heavy industrial-inspired grooves with melodic synths. You know the markedly bad tracks on XX and XIII? This is an album comprised entirely of their progeny, drained of imagination, diluted and putrefied.Six years on from their last release, Cleveland’s Mushroomhead once again don their masks for latest full-length oeuvre, A Wonderful Life. The pieces are there, but they're assembled in simplistic, predictable, and tiresome ways. I'm a big fan of their old stuff, and I can't listen to this. the orchestral tracks were the best, along with the bread boy's inspired Just the perspective of someone who only knew a few singles from them before going into run of them in the near future, and my rating could drop further as this is
I can understand why the fans are not responding well to this. new member Jaxie has some nice moments, but she is barely on the album, just a But this really does feel like a band with no life just trotting on Nu metal with an orchestral flare, on paper this should be my thing. they don't equal it, they are just differentrbest regards r This album is quite intense, it has no interludes, the voices reflected in it are very good the battery that is heard is quite common seems programmed Being this album quite impressive compared to previous works, it makes us miss the previous singers less.
